WHAT WE BELIEVE ABOUT GOD

The “God” we refer to is The God of the Bible: Jehovah of old, Yaweh, the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, and no other. This God, according to the Bible, is the Creator and Ruler of the unive

rse. This God, according to the Bible, is the One True God, “and there is no other.” Isaiah 45:5 makes this clear to anyone who will look it up:

“I am the LORD, and there is no other; apart from me there is no God. “

This God, the God of the Bible, has eternally existed in three persons – the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal in essence, and are one God, yet they are three distinct persons. They exist as one divine essence and Being, yet are three personalities, in total accord with one another. These three Divine Persons are clearly defined in scripture. These are but a few of the many passage which attest to this fact:

Genesis 1:1, 26, 27; 3:22; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; 1 Peter 1:2; 2; Corinthians 13:14; John 1:1

WHAT WE BELIEVE ABOUT JESUS CHRIST

Jesus Christ is God incarnate, the second Person of the Godhead, the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus came to earth specifically to live in our place the perfect, sinless human life that no human could ever live. Once He did that, He offered that life as the perfect ransom, by dying on a Roman cross. Thus He became the perfect sacrifice for the sins of the ones who are “the called,” those who repent of their mis-deeds, those in the minority who seek the God of the Bible with all of their hearts. To further prove He was God incarnate, Jesus Christ arose from the dead bodily and gloriously, and thereby demonstrated His power over sin and death. He ascended to heaven and will return again to earth to allow those who have embraced Him by faith to live with Him in peace and joy forever.

Matthew 1:22, 23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5, 14:10-30; Hebrews 4:14, 15; 1 Corinthians 15:3, 4; Romans 1:3, 4; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Timothy 6:14, 15; Titus 2:13

WHAT WE BELIEVE ABOUT THE HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit is a person specifically identified in Scripture as a separate personality from God the Father and from Christ the Son. We learn through Scripture that the Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God. He becomes a gift to all new (true) Believers. He has been given to this world to educate the Christian inwardly, and to help the world become aware of their need for Jesus Christ. Christ explained– His words captured in the writings of John– that the Holy Spirit literally “moves into” and inhabits the inner person of every true Christian Believer, beginning at the moment of salvation– when the new believer is “regenerated,” or brought into true spiritual life, by God. The Holy Spirit provides the true Christian believer with a new moral compass that is God-driven, a new inner power for living and surviving suffering, a new understanding of spiritual truths as they are written in The Bible. It is the Holy Spirit that imbues the Christian Believer with a world-view centered on the Word of God. Because of the indwelling of this marvelous Spirit of God, the Christian can’t help but seek to live under his guidance and control each day. This inner drive to live as God wants is literally powered by the Holy Spirit of God. It is this gift of the indwelling Holy Spirit that transforms a human life, from the inside out. And it is the “changed life” that is the hallmark of all true Believers. See Ezekiel 36:26-27 for two of the most amazing verses in all the Bible.

2 Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13, 14:16, 17; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 2:12, 3:16; Ephesians 1:13; Galatians 5:25; Ephesians 5:1

WHAT WE BELIEVE ABOUT SALVATION

Salvation is the free “full pardon” that God has offered all who ask for His divine gift of Forgiveness by taking a child-like step of faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That step of child-like faith recognizes that Christ paid for our eternal freedom by willingly sacrificing His perfect life in a gesture of unparallelled love. Salvation results from that step of faith, and it is a gift from God to man. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by a genuine, heart-felt, child-like, honest step of faith, and this type of faith is itself a Gift from God! The Bible tells us that without God’s special “gift of Faith” no human could ever truly believe that the Bible is true at all. So even the ability to believe the Gospel is a supernatural Gift from God. And this Gift has absolutely nothing to do with any good works a person can do, or might do, or has ever done, to earn it!

Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8, 9; John 14:6, 1:12; Titus 3:5; Galatians 3:26; Romans 5:1

WHAT WE BELIEVE ABOUT THE BIBLE

The Bible is the revelation of God’s redemptive activity, and Himself, to all men. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme, infallible, inerrant source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because it is inspired by God, it is truth without any mixture of error.
