The Opening Day of Darrington Seminary, 2011

The historic day in Texas prison history was the day that the Darrington Seminary (Bible College) opened in the Darrington (maximum-security) Penitentiary, with its first 40 men, long-term inmates who had applied for acceptance from prisons all over the state.  The Seminary is entirely funded by private donations, is voluntary to all men who are lifers and others who have long-term sentences, and upon meeting all entrance requirements set by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and the Southwestern Theological Seminary, are accepted  regardless of religious affiliation.
